+/- Human at the Roundhouse
Created specifically for the iconic Roundhouse space, +/- Human is an immersive exhibition that combines science, dance, and music.
Award-winning choreographer and director, Wayne McGregor, has paired up with the collaborative art studio, Random International, and the iconic electronic music label, Warp Records, to produce the eerily beautiful ‘Zoological’. Within the other-worldly immersive installation, the main hall of an old Victorian railway becomes inhabited by a flock of artificially intelligent spheres that move collectively, reacting to their environment.
Released from the upper level of the space, the white orbs gravitate towards the visitors and begin to interact, mimicking human movements in a surreal and slightly disconcerting manner. Dancers from The Royal Ballet and Company Wayne McGregor perform in an elegant exchange of space, bringing a powerful organic energy to the machine-led experience.
Jonathan Jones from the Guardian says,
“these technologically adept art wizards extend the technology of drones to genuinely and movingly ponder the nature of life itself.”
+/- Human is at the Roundhouse, London, until 28th August.
